Another good reason as to when to send postcards is if you have not seen or heard from a client for sometime. Send a postcard with an irresistible offer that they simply cannot refuse. This is mainly to see what the main problem is or if they have moved.

What kind of ideas do you have about getting referrals? Yes it usually happens naturally but in times like these you need to be more pro-active about getting referrals, and getting great ones at that.

Repeat and satisfied customers are ideal candidates to give you referrals by telling their friends and family about your online business. Do not be afraid to ask for referrals. Give incentives if you must but ask for referrals, and ask often.

Some business owners have systematized the process and about every 3 months or so they send out an email offering incentives to anyone who refers others.

  • Have contests: Who answers the most questions about your product wins… (Something desirable)
  • Have monthly give-a-ways: The 150 participant wins… (Something desirable)
  • Launch something new each week: A new survey. A new Gift certificate. Etc.
  • Place links to interesting content: Videos. Articles. Reports. Books. News. Etc.

If someone is happy with a product they purchased from you they will be more likely to purchase from you again.  Be sure to let your current customers know of any new product or service you offer as soon as possible.  Continually follow up with customers and potential customers. 

Simply contact your customers and let them know you are available for work and offer some form of a time sensitive discount or other incentive to help them make the decision to buy now (rather than later).  Let them know you are available for any questions or concerns they may have. 

An auto responder can make this task much easier than manually doing each one.

While surfing the Internet the other day I came upon a most usual blog with lots of information on anything to do with marketing. I cannot remember precisely how I found the blog but this one article they posted on list building and email marketing had practically everything anyone needs to know about email marketing online.

The blog is called ZoomStart and it is truly superb. I spent hours reading other articles too.

Being a Marketing Consultant I already knew that Email Marketing is the most cost effective way for any business to improve sales. Period.

Where else can a Small Business spend $10 a month to reach up to 500 clients and inform them of the arival of new goods, or a sale, or that gift certificates are now available for purchase, or to ask for referrals, or to ask for testimonials or anything else that will make readers of the Email want to spend money or interact favorably with the business?

Yet still many Small Business Owners hesitate to embrace Email Marketing. Sad to say a large percentage of those who do use Email Marketing are not maximizing it's potential because they fail to seek the help they need to learn how to do so.
